Why have a flu vaccination?

Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect you from serious disease caused by the flu. By getting vaccinated against the flu, you can also help protect other people, our participants and people who are too sick or too young to be vaccinated. The more people who are vaccinated in our community, the less likely the disease will spread.  Vaccination against the flu also reduces the risk of more serious outcomes, like hospitalisations.

Everyone has a role to play when it comes to preventing the spread of flu and other diseases. You can be a role model for your friends, family, colleagues and our participants.

Please keep in mind that practicing good hygiene/infection control is very important in addition to a flu shot

  • If you don’t have a tissue handy and you feel a sneeze or cough coming on, cough into your elbow. It’s a part of your body less likely to touch other surfaces and will help stop the spread of germs.
  • If you do use a tissue, make sure you dispose of it into a bin nearby and then wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Washing your hands thoroughly with soap for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food or undertaking personal care and at regular intervals throughout the day is a quick and easy way to help stop the spread of any germs.

Thank you for your continued support and stay safe and well.

Kind regards

Justin Scanlon
