Mask Action Plan Update

Hearth Support Services – Mask Action Plan Update

On the 20th of July we put in place a two-step “Action Plan” in response to the Victorian Premiers announcement on July 19th  “Face Coverings Mandatory For Melbourne And Mitchell Shire”, “this new rule won’t be enforced until after 11.59pm on Wednesday 22 July”.

To keep you informed we have updated our plan below.

Latest Advice from the Victorian DHHS about “the use of masks by disability workers”

In addition to the Victorian Premiers announcement , we have received advice from the DHHS on the “use of masks by disability workers”. As a result, all Hearth Support Workers must wear a mask during the entirety of their shift to assist their health and safety and that of the participant. If for any reason this is not possible, you need to advise your relationship manager immediately.

Step 1 – Immediate Action – Ensure all Support Workers have access to a disposable mask

We have couriered 10 surgical masks to every member of our entire Support Worker team last week. We anticipate that all masks will be delivered by 5pm on Wednesday the 29th of July.

If you haven’t received your 10 pack of masks by this date please email info@hearthaustralia.com.au so that we can follow-up your delivery.

Step 2 – Follow up Action – Source reusable masks

We are not certain about the ongoing supply & distribution of single use masks, given the significant general community demand.

Thankfully, we have been able to purchase enough cloth masks (2 per support worker) from the Cotton On Foundation for all support workers, a practical solution to ensure all have a mask to utilise ongoing, without the logistical challenges of continuing to access single use masks.

These reusable masks will be despatched as soon as we receive them later this week.

Thank you for your support, cooperation and understanding during these extremely challenging and difficult times.

As always, we are here to help if you need any kind of assistance please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the Hearth Team and we will do our best to assist.

Warm Regards

Justin Scanlon
